The Stress, Anxiety and Substance Use Laboratory is part of the Division of Alcohol, Drugs, and Addiction at McLean Hospital, located in Belmont, MA. Our research focuses on the nature and treatment of substance use, stress, and anxiety-related disorders, with the overarching aim of enhancing the effectiveness of care for those suffering from these disorders. We use both clinical and translational research approaches to improve understanding of the interaction between stress and substance use, identify processes contributing to the risk for and maintenance of substance use and other psychiatric disorders, and to identify and test therapeutic targets, with a particular focus on behavioral therapies.
